Skin Care

In 1955, 100% of babies born in America wore cotton diapers and only 7% of them experienced diaper rash. However, in 1998, with 90% of American babies in disposable diapers, the occurrence of diaper rash increased to 78%. A survey of diaper services like ours are five times less likely to ever get a rash than when other diaper styles are used.*

Hour after hour and day after day for two years or more, your baby will be wearing a diaper. It's the most intimate and important clothing in a baby's life -- in constant contact with the baby's vulnerable skin over a supersensitive area of the body.

Two Big Reasons Why Natural, Breathable Cotton Is The Clear Choice

     1. Unlike disposables, cotton diapers "breathe" to prevent a skin-stressing buildup of heat under the diaper.

      2. Unlike disposables, the breath ability of cotton diapers also provides an escape path for the ammonia that's formed after a baby wets. Instead of trapping this potential irritant on or near the skin, cotton helps ammonia evaporate.

We believe these are the biggest reasons why diapering irritation is not a fact of life for babies who wear cotton diapers.

As babies grow older, they are more aware of the difference between being wet and dry. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, babies diapered with disposables wear diapers an average of 36-42 months, as opposed to 24-30 months for diaper service cotton diapered babies. On average, babies diapered in our cotton diapers potty train a year earlier than those using disposables!

The best way to prevent painful diaper rash is to keep your baby dry. Right?

Not Really!

Clean is more important (and "dry" is unlike "clean", despite what disposable manufacturers lead you to believe). A dirty diaper is a dirty diaper, no matter what it feels like. To protect your baby's sensitive skin from chafing, irritation and painful rashes, change your baby soon after wetting.
Unlike disposables, our cotton diapers feature a bacteriostat that creates a barrier on the soiled diaper to slow the growth of bacteria and protect baby's skin.
You can't get this kind of protection from disposables.
